| How It Works
Students are and will continue to be the main engine behind the CARING CLOSET. Groups/classes of students, such as our CD students and Student Council members, will routinely work with our donations and upkeep of the room. Other student organizations are welcome and will be sought after to assist with various CARING CLOSET drives and tasks. (Examples of suggestive drives: hat and mitten tree, food drive, bag collection…) A calendar of volunteers will be kept in the Student Services office if someone or some group would like to contribute their time. Our school social workers, guidance counselors, and administrative team will be the only ones who will take students to the CARING CLOSET. It is not “open” at all times for anyone to just walk into and grab items. Once a student is recognized as disadvantaged, or homeless, or poor, or struggling, or whatever the case may be – one of the adults mentioned above will take the student to the CARING CLOSET and allow him/her to pick out as many of ANY ITEMS he/she needs. The CARING CLOSET is a private, safe environment. The store will be kept neat and organized. It is important that the students feel that this is a special service and that they will not “stand out” because they have been to the CARING CLOSET. Everything is donated; everything is done with “giving” and “charity” in mind. We want the people who use the CARING CLOSET to feel good. (Do you ever feel good when you go shopping?) That is how we want this experience to be. Mission Statement We also help Anne Sullivan School Janelle Peotter |
